Troubleshooting of the cluster of electronic instruments

    click: 1317 2017-12-25

Many late-model vehicles use electronic instrument display speed, fuel level, engine speed (RPM) and other instrument readings and warning lights.
There is one thing common to all electronic instrument shares, regardless of the brand or model is the need of proper voltage and grounding.
Most meters require a minimum operating voltage of 10 volts.
If your electronic dashboard acting strangely, showing or broken characters, do not read or show exactly what all have no, the first thing, you should check the fuse, battery/ignition voltage wiring harness in cluster exists and the continuity of the cluster.
    Electrical fault
Change the fuse to burn the unfixed dead cluster.
It may temporarily restore power, but until you find out why you're dealing with symptoms, not the trigger.
If the fuse is blown out, as long as you replace it again, this is a very good indication of a cluster or a cable short circuit.
The cluster is condemned by a cluster of disconnected and grounded power circuits using ohms.
Instead of using a voltmeter test lamp, you should check the presence of the battery/instrument line ignition voltage, since you can't always judge the low voltage through a simple 12-volt test lamp.
The electron is very sensitive, voltage level, 9.5 volt, may not be sufficient cluster, need a minimum 10.0 volts, normal operation.
Check voltage, see in a shop manual (or from the http://www.aa1car.com/library/oemwebsites.htmOEM website or wiring diagram wiring diagram AlldataDIY), and then snap back to a connector you and ignition voltage meter probe the proper needle (S) and cluster.
If you do not find a normal battery voltage, you will have to use the wiring diagram to track down the problem.
If the instrument shows normal work (pressure gauge reading is normal),, but cluser don't light up, failure may be a bad headlight switch or indoor lighting dimmer switch (if separate from head lamp switch).
A good grounding connection is also very important.
The voltage of the cluster wire bundle does not make the cluster work, if there is a bad grounding connection.
Because the instrument is mounted on a plastic liner, a separate grounding wire or grounding wiring harness is usually required to complete the power circuit.
Once again, the wiring diagram shows the ground path and then the ohmmeter.
Do not use a self-powered test lamp because it cannot measure resistance (any resistance will reduce the voltage of the circuit).
    Dashboards require precise input
Another important factor in all electronic instrumentation is the accurate input from the automobile sensor.
Speedometer, tachometer, fuel oil level, oil pressure, voltage and temperature measurement are obviously not working properly if there is a corresponding sensor or circuit of its circuit.
If all electronic instrument seems to be a good job, with the exception of one meter, constantly read high, low and unstable, has a high probability problem is not in the cluster of electronic products, but the sending unit, sensor or the line (especially if the pressure gauge normal light).
However, if one or more of the instruments are not flashing, or flashing, it may be the instrument itself.
Again, you will need to refer to the wiring diagram to examine the continuity between the cluster wiring harness and the various units and sensors.
    Electronic meter quick check
One way to quickly check electronic instruments is to send units or sensors and ground directly.
In most cases, grounding causes the pressure gauge to read the maximum, telling you that there is no electronic or wiring error.
The problem is in the sensor or the sending unit.
The self-check of the combination meter
When you open the ignition for the first time, some of the instruments pass through a brief self-examination process, during which all display segments and warning lights and light bulbs are inspected.
Watch the failure light up any dark segments or indicators.
The self-check program changes a lot, from one car to the next, but in some applications, the self-check diagnosis can be run according to certain display buttons.
See your user manual for instructions on how to run the instrument self-check (if provided).
This information can also be found in the information website or AlldataDIY of the OEM service.
Here are the instrument self-diagnosis procedures, which can be used in two cases:
Instrument diagnostic procedure: the latest model of the ford mustang
In 1999 and beyond the ford mustang, instrumentation had a built-in self-diagnostic model that could be used by holding down the SELECT/RESET buttons.
Insert the ignition key and open the RUN position (but not crank or boot engine).
Continue to hold the SELECT/RESET button (5 seconds) until the odometer displays the word test.
After the SELECT/RESET button is released within three seconds, the word display test begins to self-diagnose mode.
Now, whenever you press the SELECT/RESET button, you will advance through a series of self-diagnostic tests until you display any fault code, instrumentation.
Continue to insist and units will pass a pressure gauge series (gauge) monitor and self-check cycle.
Exit the instrument self-diagnosis mode, turn on the ignition switch, or hold down the second after all the failure code and pressure gauge test results have been shown as three or more SELECT/RESET buttons, then release the button.
    Chrysler instrumentation self - check
The old Chrysler automobile electronic instrument displays the cluster of tachometer, the order of self-diagnosis starts, and the ignition switch is turned on by the tripping and tripping button, then the button is released.
For those without a 1 ring, press the steps and the us/MET button.
If there is no reaction, the cluster is bad.
The odometer indicates that the trielectricity indicates that the cluster is ready for self-inspection.
Start the first 5 test and press the dollar/MET button.
All vacuum fluorescent displays should be illuminated.
If the number shown on the odometer is 1, 2 or 3, there is a speedometer fault and a replacement cluster is needed.
Fault code 4 shows the problem of the odometer memory chip (which has a unique replacement).
When 5 appears, the cluster has passed its first five-year experiment.
To pass the future 3 test sequence, you must press the dollar/MET button every time.
The sixth test will light up all of your personal display segments by 6:00.
Test 7 as high as the light of all specifications and symbol scintillation 7.
Test the warning lights in the high sequence and the 8 light flashes through 8.
If the cluster passes all eight tests, the problem is outside the cluster.
If you have a Chrysler dashes, including fuel, oil temperature and scale all read one of the biggest and the engine starts, there is still a module connector on the back of the cluster on the loose, check.
If the speedometer and the odometer are not working, use the ohm table to check the transmission's operation "distance sensor" (the speedometer dispatch unit).
Set the scale so that less than an ohm reading will be clear.
The meter sensor terminal connects and opens it.
A very good sensor generates different pulses of 8 0.5 ohms or less each revolution.
Don't use sensor test lights, because doing so may damage it.
    Electronic instrument maintenance?
Electronic instruments are fairly reliable, but from a service point of view, it's either working or not.
    There is something between them.
It makes no difference if the entire cluster dies or has only one pressure gauge or display.
In most cases, car manufacturers have obtained "on-site maintenance" without regulations or repairs, if it is defective.
You have a new unit or unit to replace the entire unit from the salvage yard, or find the source on the Internet, and the electronic cluster maintenance.
The only component that can normally replace the broken bulb.
But some of these present circuit boards (steering signal indicators, for example) are integral and irreplaceable if they fail.
Even if you are an electronic guide, who knows how to test and replace a single circuit component, the car manufacturer has not yet made the necessary service information available for sale.
So, for most people, the only viable option is to replace the cluster, if it has an internal problem or sends it to a dedicated repair job.
    Instrument replacement tips
Tearing, dashes extraction instruments are fairly easy for some vehicles and a big test for others.
The best advice is to buy your car's AlldataDIY to subscribe to your dashes and look forward to a step-by-step process of change for the cluster.
This way, there won't be any surprises, you have what, you are beginning to disassemble before the idea.
Warning: make sure to disconnect the battery before starting any electrical work.
This will eliminate any risk that any electrical wiring that can cause electrical damage or fire is accidentally short-circuited.
It will also disable airbag circuits, so it will not be careful to trigger airbags.
    Reset odometer
Most state laws are about tampering with the odometer, so if in your car electronic instruments, electronic odometer and memory chips, memory chips must be transferred to a new cluster.
What happens if you forget or lose the original odometer chip?
You should have installed a new zero odometer with the date and mileage of the sticker on the door.
The car manufacturer may also be the one you can provide and replace the odometer chip programming with the old mileage (if possible).
There are also federal laws that prohibit odometer tampering.
In the federal miles law, "the truth (the medical association) requires the vehicle seller to provide actual, real odometer readings and disclose any known inaccuracies.
Medical people make odometer a felony.
Failure to disclose that the odometer has been altered or repaired (to change in any way) and/or falsified mileage documents can result in fines and/or imprisonment.
You can reprogram the digital odometer and change the mileage.
Some electronic cluster maintenance companies can do anything for you, but you need to sign a statement to give your vehicle actual mileage.
Some new car dealers can also replace the actual mileage of the vehicle by replacing the odometer with an authorised factory scanner.
You can also buy software online, hack into a digital odometer, and allow you to reset your mileage readings.
Be warned, however, the rollback of mileage, and make your vehicle, wear less than it could have been, into the hot water later, if you sell the vehicle, and tried to cheat someone in.
Car buyers often use CARFAX or similar services to check the history of the vehicle, including its miles.
